Organizing Your Home Can Be Done In Just Minutes A Day!
So, you took some vacation time off with the intentions of getting your house clean and organized? It is not as uncommon as you think. Women do this all the time only to get discouraged when their hard work gets unraveled after only a few days.
What if I told you there are ways of organizing your home spending only minutes a day? Wouldn’t you love for your free time be just that, “free time?”
Establish organizing habits even if your house is not
organized. “YET”
Morning: This may seem like a lot, but if you practice these each morning they will become habit and make your mornings run smoother.
- Make your bed as soon as you wake up.
- Rehang discarded clothing that you tried on. To prevent this, have your outfit ready the night before which includes ironing, matching shoes and jewelry. See Organizing Closets
- Put your make-up away after applying it. Simplify your routine by discarding all the make-up items that you do not use. There is no since in wasting your time digging through old stuff to find what you actually use.
- Store away your blow dryer, flat iron, etc. away as well. Having a basket under your sink or vanity is a quick fix for putting these away.
- Use your damp bath towel to wipe vanity and sink. Hey, it’s still clean enough to use it for this. Don’t consider this as cleaning. It is more of giving it a clean & tidy look.
- Put away hangers once dressed.
Program your coffee the night before so it is ready when you wake up. Set up a coffee station so you have everything you need in a snap. This one here is very simple.
- Put dirty clothes in the designated area.
- Plan your meals in advance and thaw meat in refrigerator for dinner.
Most of the above apply to all members of the family. If you have small children, give yourself extra time in the mornings to get them dressed and fed. Get the whole family involved. Older siblings can help the younger ones. There is nothing worse than a hectic morning with an entire family trying to get out the door. If your family follows this list, there will be much less chaos & stress in the mornings.
Evening:
- Establish a designated place for your purse, keys, coats, backpacks, etc. Just these items alone can wreck a room in seconds. Put all of these things away as soon as you walk in.
- Set up a mail sorting system like I talked about in Turn Your Clutter Into Decor.
- Have the children do their homework as soon as they get home, so the evening is free of drama.
- Prepare dinner, have entire family help clean up the kitchen afterwards.
- Prep for the next day
- Relax
Just these simple routine steps (can be adjusted to fit your family) will get you started to a more organized home.
Remember, when organizing your home to pick one small project at a time to organize and then reward yourself with a system to keep it that way. No system works without a good manager and a good household manager gets more free time.
Don’t sabotage your own plan, remember it only takes minutes!
